British Cycling Membership

All club members are encouraged to become members of British Cycling. You need British Cycling membership if you want to get a race licence from them. You need a race licence if you want to race in Expert Class in Regional races or in National races. There are lots of other benefits and at the moment there is a very special offer on British Cycling membership. Click on the link to see the membership form. Print it off, fill it in, and post it to British Cycling. The address is on the form.

Club Membership

Club membership for 2008 is now due. Karen has sent everyone a membership form by email, please contact me if you need to be on the mailing list or if you would like another form sent out.

Membership must be sorted out soon because the next race on January 13th will be the last chance to get away with the measly £1 race fee for 2007 club members. You also need club membership when applying for a British Cycling race license, which is requird to race at Expert level at Regionals and Nationals.

It's all for a good cause so please can everyone try and get membership sorted out promptly this year. Thanks.

Bulwell Winter Round 3 - December 9th, 2007

Despite the poor weather we still had 45 riders on Sunday. Ok, so that's not as good as the 70 we had at the last round, but I'm sure that's mainly because of the weather. Those riders that turned up will have been rewarded for their hardiness by earning points and moving up their group. The points have now been calculated and will be posted in the results section once they have been checked. Next winter series race is Sunday, Jan 13th. Registration closes at 1.00pm sharp.

Website working again

Peterborough National - June 16th/17th

Due to the cancelled double header at Bournemouth last weekend, the first of two replacement nationals have been set.  Peterborough national will now host rounds 3 and 4.  Round 3 will take place from Saturday afternoon and in to the evening.  This means that the practice schedule will move forward 3 hours. Sunday's schedule will remain the same.

The 2nd replacement round is yet to be secured, but the initial intention is to stick to the existing calendar of weekends.  The option of putting on a replacement event on a new weekend is possible, but not without upsetting another region's calendar.  Due to the proposed "Autumn National Series" and clashes, keeping to the existing announced weekends was considered to be the favoured option by the majority.

Thanks to Peterborough Phantoms for stepping up and enthusiastically offering their services.  Thanks also to the officials team, Bolsover support truck team and the medics for changing plans at late notice.  For those not used to Euro style double weekends on long tracks, I suggest you get to bed early on Friday and Saturday, keep off the pop and go easy in practice.

My apologies to anyone inconvenienced by the new schedule.

Bulwell Club Summer Series

The results from round 2 have been posted in the results section. Please check your results and let me know as soon as possible if anything looks wrong. Any errors reported after 14th June cannot be corrected. A table of which riders are in which groups will be posted soon. So will a points table showing the series points totals after the first two rounds.

We also secured a load of great prizes this week thanks to the guys at Raleigh. Prize lists will be announced soon and, although I don't want to give away too much, there will be some really great prizes - so get practising for round 3. Thursday 14th June.

Coaching Sessions

We will be running coahcing sessions on Thursday evenings, every fortnight. So, one week it will be racing and the next week it will be coaching. The coaching sessions will be from 6.30pm untill 8.00pm. Register from 6.15pm till 6.30pm, the cost is just £1. There will be a limit of 15 places, available to club members only. The Rhythm Section

I thought we were going to struggle today, just me and Rich Camm to start with at the track. Luckily a Hungarian German from Taiwan (honestly) turned up with his son and helped us. We wouldn't have got it all done without him, so a big thank-you to Zoltan. Adrian Render also turned up later and Tom had a go on the Whacker while it was tipping it down. The rhythm section now looks sweet - I just hope it is firm enough to stay that way. We'll find out soon enough. I might pop down on Sunday, otherwise it'll be Thursday for the coaching session.

Bulwell Summer Series - ROUND 1

Round 1 of the Bulwell Summer Series saw 41 riders taking part. Racing was delayed by riders turning up after registration had closed. Please can all riders get to the track well before registration closes at 7.00pm.
The new rhythm sestion was a bit soggy after a week of rain and made it hard going for the riders, but it was the same for everyone. This problem should be fixed in time for the next race.
The results are now posted in the results section. Riders highlighted in red go up to the next league. Riders highlighted in blue go down a league.

Next race is Thursday 31st May. Registration will close at 7.00pm sharp.

Don't forget, Thursday 24th May is coaching night. 6.30pm until 8.00pm.

Bulwell Track Work - Saturday 19th May

Rich Camm and Phil Gray-Blest will be down at the track on Saturday, fixing the rhythm section. It should have dried out enough to allow us to add more surface and whacker it down. I really need help to get it all done so please try and get down to the track for an hour or two.

I will be there from 9.00am (you don't need to get there that early, I know it's the weekend).

Bulwell Track Work - Saturday 12th May

We are digging up the rhythm section on the last straight to make it flow
better. The JCB and the whacker plates are booked. We'll easily get it all
done in a day if enough of us turn up.

Please, can anyone bring along a wheelbarrow. We only have one and could
do with three on the day.

Gates open at 8.30am.

The digger will be at the track at 9.00am.

Midlands Round 3 at Sheffield - Sunday 13th May

It's Midlands Regional round 3 this Sunday at Bolehills in Sheffield. It's a difficult track to find, but I know the way well enough now. Anyone wishing to travel in convoy by car should meet at the track at 9.30am. We will leave by 10.00am at the very latest. Anyone needing a lift needs to bring along a signed consent letter which states your name, date and that the trip is to the BMX race at Sheffield. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and are only available to club members.

Race fee is £7

Beginners Coaching Session

We will be running a beginners BMX session at the track on Thursday 3rd May. Everyone is welcome. This is a great opportunity to introduce your friends to BMX. We have lots of club bikes and helmets to lend out to riders. The only equipment that riders must bring is a pair of gloves because we only have a few pairs to lend out.

PLease let me know if you wish to attend because places are limited. Email me at phil.gray.blest@ntlworld.com or call me on 07985 419101to book your place and to get a parental consent form. Anyone who is not a club member will need a parental consent form.

Registration from 6.00pm.
Session starts at 6.30pm.
Finish at 8.00pm

The session will cover the following important aspects of BMX riding.

- basics of the bike and equipment
- how to ride the bike on the flat
- how to pump the jumps

The course will be run by British Cycling Coaches and will cost just £1 for club members and £2 for anyone else.

Track Maintenance Day- Saturday 21st April - 10.00am

There's lots of work to be done down at the track this weekend. We are hosting round 2 of the Midland Summer Series on Sunday 22nd April and need to get everything ready. The grounds need tidying and clearing of litter, the track needs sweeping, berm two and flemdog mountain need resurfacing. If enough of us turn up we can get it all done, so please come along on Saturday and help to keep the club running. Lets keep Bulwell track somewhere to be proud of.

WHEN: This Thursday, 5th April, at 7.00pm.

WHERE: The Apollo in Bulwell

DIRECTIONS: From the track, go up Sellars Wood Road to the roundabout and turn right.
Follow the road over the roundabouts and traffic lights to the end where there is a T-Junction.
Turn Left. You will see Morrisons on the other side of the road.
Then there is McDonalds
which is next to A "Vets for Pets"
which is next to a Car mechanics tyre place
which is next to the Apollo.

RAFFLE: We will have a raffle on the night. Please see if you have anything to donate for the raffle. We need your help.

Bulwell Winter Series - Round 6 - Sunday, 1st April

It's the last round of the Bulwell Winter Series this Sunday. Gates open at 1.00pm and racing starts at 2.30pm. Get there early. Don't miss out - this will be the last club race until May 17th.

There will be a prize presentation evening at The Apollo on Thursday April 5th at 7:00pm. Free Buffet and something for everyone that raced in the Winter Series.

Midlands Summer Series Starts on Sunday 25th March

Round 1 is at Rotherham

It is round 1 of the Summer Series at Rotherham on Sunday 25th March.

Either make your own way there, or meet at the Bulwell track to give a lift to those that need one.

Race fee for regional races is now£7. It has gone up from last year to help to pay for improved medical facilities.

BULWELL 2007 Winter Series - final round

New Date - Sunday 1st April

The final round of the Bulwell winter series has been rescheduled for, Sunday 1st April. Gates open at 1.00pm. Registration closes at 2.15pm and racing starts at 2.30pm.

There will also be a presentation evening with trophies and prizes for the top three in each age category and medals for everyone that raced and comes along to the presentation evening.

Sorry everyone - but todays race has been cancelled. The rain is getting heavier and the wind is getting stronger and it really wouldn't be much fun. So, we will still have a final round but it will be in 2 or 3 weeks time. Keep an eye on the website for a decision on the date.

Bulwell Outlaws AGM

We need to have our 2007 AGM. One of the main reasons for the AGM is to decide on roles and responsibilities.

Of course we need as many people as possible to come forward and fill the posts. The more people that share the work the easier it gets. The meeting will be on Monday, 5th February at 7.00pm at the

Here's a run down of the roles people could take on. Many of them really don't require much work at all. If anyone is interested in taking one or more of these roles, but cannot make it to the meeting, please let me know.

Trophy Steward - Look after trophies and order trophies when required.

Newsletter - collate news and produce a quarterly newsletter

Rider representative - to promote the views of the riders, especially the younger ones, at club meetings.

BULWELL - Midlands Winter Regional - this weekend

We are hosting a Midlands Regional race at the track on Sunday 28th January. We need to get the site ready for such an important event, so please come and help on Saturday 27th. We will be meeting at the track at 11.30am. The main work will be sweeping the track and tidying away rubbish. It doesn't sound like much, but there's a big area to get ready, so please come and lend a hand.

CLUB Series - round 4

All the photos are in the gallery and the results are in the results section. A few riders did not get promoted or demoted this time. This is because riders may only be promoted or demoted by 2 leagues. This is to protect rider safety. It is league 2 that has been effected and should make for some fantastic racing in that league the next round on Sunday 11th Feb.

Start Gate

It was great to see so many people down at the track on Boxing Day. It was also great to have the start gate back in action. Nick has worked really hard to get it up and running and it appears to be working better than it ever has done. The gate hs been cleaned and painted, a new relay has been fitted, and the solenoid has been raised which seems to give the mechanism a bigger punch. Well done Nick.

Rotherham race (3rd December) is cancelled

The race this Sunday at Rotherham has been cancelled due to the bad weather forecast. I think they will reschedule it for later in the year, probably next year.

If anyone still needs to get their order in for club kit they must get in touch with Karen either today or tomorrow. Sunday 3rd December is the last day for getting orders in. The kit will be purchased on Monday morning so that we can try and get it printed and ready to hand out at the club race on 10th December. Here are Karen's contact details.

Winter Series Results and Points

More information has been added to the Results section. You should be able to see what points you have scored in each league, where you stand in your age group, what league you are currently in. Remember, your age group never changes, it is simply how old you are. But, your league will change whenever you get promoted or demoted.

Please contact Phil if you spot anything that looks wrong, or that needs explaining.

Club Kit

You MUST get your orders in for club kit asap. Lots of orders are in already, but I know that there are still quite a few to come in. The very last day for handing in orders is Dec 3rd. This just about gives enough time to get the order and get the "OUTLAWS" printed in the back, ready so they can all be handed out at the Bulwell race on December 10th.

On December 3rd, we will be meeting at the track at 9.30am and travelling to the regional race meeting at Rotherham. Karen will be there to take any last minute orders. Bulwell Winter Seres - Round 2

What a great day of racing, the formula system seems to be making the racing much more interesting. Every race, in fact every moto, is important. Every moto scores points which count towards the series, and then there's the business of getting promoted and relegated. Everyone ends up with challenging racing which I am sure will be of benefit to all our riders.

Order Form

Oh dear, the order form that I sent to everyone was not correct. It did not have the orange race pants on it and it had nowhere to write down who the order was from. The order form on this website has been updated. I will have updated forms down at the track on Sunday, 5th November. I'll also send out forms to anyone who is not at the track. Hopefully that will cover it. Sorry.

Bulwell Outlaws Race Clothing

The order form for the club clothing will be sent out with the newsletter, sometime next week. If you do not receive anything through the post please contact Phil through the Contact Page. You can also print off a copy of the order form for yourself. The clothing is made by Alpinestars so it is some of the the best quality clothing available. We get the kit at trade cost so it is a real bargain. Anyone who wants some team clothing must pay for it before we order it.

We will be purchasing all the different sizes of the tops so that people can try them on before ordering. The tops will be kept in the unit, at the track, and they can be tried whenever there is anyone down there with a key. Definite dates and times are as follows:

Sunday 5th November (Bulwell Race Day - 1.00pm - get there early to try stuff on because it gets busy at registration).

Saturday 11th November (Bulwell track 3.00pm) whatever the weather.

Sunday 12th November before 10.00am (Winter Regional at Harworth).

Saturday 18th November (Bulwell track 3.00pm) whatever the weather.
