National BMX
National Bmx racing is the premier Bmx race series and it is raced at venues all across the UK, though the venues tend to change from year to year. There is always a great atmosphere with large crowds, trade tents, race teams and colourful banners all around the track.
All the top riders in the country meet up and race in normally a 12 round series. The details vary from year to year.
The National Bmx Race series is run by British Cycling and has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. We now have over 400 riders at most rounds.
National races are held over a weekend, usually with one round being raced on a Saturday and another round being raced on a Sunday. Many riders try to get to the track on the Friday so that they can get some extra practice.
Most, if not all, National Rounds have good camping facilities where some people camp and many others play it safe with mobile homes or caravans.
At the end of the season there is one big race called the Brits (British Championships) which should be attended by over 1000 riders in 2011. Anyone can race at the Brits so long as they have raced at 5 or more regionals, at least 3 at Expert class.
